Lancer Evolution X and Evo-like Mitsubishi Lancer coming in 2009

Mitsubishi Lancer 2009Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, colloquially known as the Evo is going to be launched in India early 2009.

Although few months ago Mistubishi and HM didn’t have any plans for the Evo X but something made them change their mind for good. The Lancer Evolution X sedan will feature a newly designed 4B11T 2.0 L turbocharged, all-aluminum Straight-4 engine. It also features Mitsubishi’s new sequential semi-automatic six speed Twin Clutch SST twin-clutch transmission with steering-mounted magnesium alloy shift paddles. A 5-speed manual gearbox will also be available. Mitsubishi claims that the 5 speed manual transmission has always been preferred in rallying and should be very refined, resulting in a more satisfying drive.

Mitsubishi Lancer 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer 2009, this is not Evo, its the new lancer that is going to be in Indian showrooms by early next year. This high-tech, super-sweet will gun for the Civic and new Corolla with price range of 11-13 lakhs.

Even though this was released in 2007 in international market, Mitsubishi probably felt pitty for Honda & Toyota and let them make some money 🙂 . The new Lancer was officially revealed in January 2007 at the Detroit Motor Show and went on sale in North American markets on March 2007. New Lancer features Mitsubishi’s next-generation RISE safety body.
RISE is a monocoque body system that combines an energy-absorbing front and rear section with a strong, rigid occupant cell to provide protection in the event of an accident. It features high tensile steel reinforcing bars in doors and energy-absorbing material in the side pillars and roof rails. The body structure is based around a one-piece shell with high levels of bending and torsional rigidity, which provides a steel cage for the safety of both the driver and passengers.

In India, it would be released in 152bhp Petrol and 140bhp diesel versions. The best part of the whole deal is that, you get a small evo much cheaper. The front nose look almost identical to Evo and the boot gives it a sporty stance as well. The models which have been detuned to 140 hp (107 kW).
