Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) announced the launch of the a new variant of its highly successful MUV (SUV as they call it), the new Bolero. This variant has been styled with a range of interior and exterior features that according to the company would appeal to the younger generation. M&M was in the process of enhancing Bolero capacity at Nashik unit to 1.50 lakh units from the current one lakh units annually at a cost of Rs 150 crore. Although there are 450 new parts in the new Bolero, the company invested only Rs 30 crore in the development.
This SUV evolved over the years as the clear favorite across the country, evidence of it being a superior value offering with versatile application across all kinds of terrain and customer needs. Now, the new Bolero sports a host of new features and aesthetics that match the lifestyle aspirations of buyers too.
The company plans to roll out the new Bolero across the country in a phased manner, starting next week, and it is competitively priced from the Bolero DI at Rs. 4.58 lakh to the Bolero SLX at Rs. 5.58 lakhs (ex-showroom Bangalore). M&M has dropped the price of the Bolero from the earlier Rs. 4.95 lakh and Rs. 5.74 lakh for the entry level and top-end variants, respectively.
The Bolero is the leader in its segment and since its launch in 2000, it has been seeing a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 35-40 per cent. In fact, in the last two years, it has seen a 50 per cent growth rate. Its volumes are larger than the Mahindra Scorpio and have been the largest selling SUV for two years in a row. We sold 42,335 units in calendar 2006 and are looking at double digit growth in the current year as well.

Hi Guys,
Being the first buyer of the new Mahndra Bolero 2007 SLX-2WD, I would like to say something about this SUV.
One year back, I was supposed to buy this car when Turbo was introduced to Bolero. After going thru the exterior inspection, it couldn’t attaracted me to go ahead. Anyways, keeping my heart tough and decided to have a Test Drive. Beleive me I never saw any car in Diesel segment that can give a tremendous pick up as Bolero delivered it.
I was overwhlemd, took Bolero for around 5 – 10 minutes on the road where so many digs were expected.
It did not give me any comfort while driving, I took this suv back to showroom. One of the sales executive told me that the one I tested was equipped with no suspension at all, only leaf springs.
However, I was not convinced with the needed comfort & convenience provided by the Bolero. So, I rejected this small stupid box with Turbo.
This Bolero 2007 model has really convinced me to go ahead, and I took out the whole & lot information about this SUV. The Bolero has all common needed things equipped that a person requires while he/she is on a journey of on/above 100 kms. I have bought Bolero SLX 2WD, the Full option, with front wheel suspension & cushion type leafspring at rear. I was waiting for Mahindra to upgrade this box with the given name ‘BOLERO’, and finally they have done it.
This SUV has been upgraded without lowering the performance of Engine & pickup of the car. By adding the Disc brakes in front and Drums at rear, it ensures more safety in the car. Addition of central console has brought the new bolero completely changed, the gear & the hand brake are now look good at their actual place. Seats are changed but they are not finished in a well manner, all stitchings are done as if it was ordered in a hurry mode.
They should bring more change to the seats of the car and ofcourse the automatic seat belts with full covering onto them.
I don’t think that Mahindra is so stupid that a cd/MP3 is being installed in the car wihtout providing even a single speaker in the car. Howcome, this idea can go so long? One or two speaker doesn’t cost much in India. I was shocked when the dealer told me there’s no speaker in the car except the CD/MP3 player. How cheap it is….really.!!
It is my advise to mahindra, please equip Bolero with atleast two small speakers of 50 watts each in the car. And it will work for you…beleive me…
But guys, now Bolero has really changed, The Tachometer can guide u how much Acceleration is given to engine to respond to your action.
Overall, Mahindra has launched new Bolero 2007, in a perfect design to suite any road condtion to go on. I give 8 out of 10.
But guys don’t waste your precious money on Scorpio just for the look and very small comfort variation. Pay less to get all those in Bolero.
My best & kind regard is with u..
Bye,,,& take care..
Bolero SLX-2WD: Rs.5,76,830

Manish, I believe Bolero is the only option for you right now. As it is hard to get an SUV below 10 you have an option of Scropio and Safari. But as you have a 8 lakh limit, bolero is the best option.
Though I personally feel its quite good vehicle compared to Scropio is you have a open mind. Perhaps, You’ll be buying the most fuel efficient SUV/Jeep in the world
