Tata unveils lifestyle pick-up truck againt Scorpio Getaway
Tata Motors launched the much waited Xenon XT, a lifestyle pick-up vehicle which Tata had released in Thailand in March last year.
With four-door, five-seats, Xenon pick-up will be priced at Rs 7.62 lakh for the 4X2 version and Rs 8.58 lakh for the 4X4 version (ex-showroom Delhi). Which makes it in the same range as the Scorpio Getaway. But thats the only one, Unlike US or Thailand, India has not been a traditional market for lifestyle pick up vehicle.
The car will be powered by the same engine which powers the group’s sports utility vehicle (SUV) Safari. It will have 2.2 VTT Dicor diesel engine, which belts out a power of 140 bhp.
“The market has not recovered yet from the slowdown but yet we will go ahead with our planned launches, which will include the launch of 11-12 products in 2009-10.”
GM launches new variant of Chevrolet Spark : Spark Muzic
General Motors India today launched a new variant of Chevrolet Spark called Spark Muzic. The model is a special edition consisting of 2,500 units and is priced at Rs 3.27 lakh. Chevrolet hopes to generate a bit of lacking excitement in the Spark mini car segment. Chevrolet Spark contributes over 75 per cent to General Motor’s sales in the mini car segment.

Special edition comes with the economical yet powerful S-Tec engine, which was developed exclusively for the Spark. The four-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine delivers peak power of 63 ps @ 5,400 rpm and peak torque of 90.3 Nm @ 4,200 rpm. Power and torque are maximised at lower speeds, making the Spark ideal for commuting in congested city traffic as well as on open highways. The peak power per engine displacement volume is the highest in the Spark’s segment. A reduced curb weight and more aerodynamic styling further improve the Spark’s low drag co-efficient of 0.342, giving it the best fuel efficiency of any vehicle in the market.
The Chevrolet Spark special edition - Muzic comes with a three-year/100,000-km standard warranty, which is an industry first in the mini-car segment. In addition, the consumer also can opt for a unique add-on service maintenance package, the ‘Chevrolet Promise – Cashless Ownership Offer,’ which frees the customer from maintenance -related costs for three years or 45,000 km (whichever comes first).
