TATA Indigo Compact : TATA starts at Rs 4.64 Lacs
All vehicles under 4-metre length and engine capacity of 1200cc for petrol and 1500cc for diesel qualify as small cars and attract a lower 16% excise duty while all other passenger vehicles are tagged under the 24% bracket. Now the big player are making use of this . Till now, Hyundai, Ford and General Motors tweaked their Getz, Fusion and UV-A engines to 1.2 litres to reduce incidence of excise duty. TATA plans to do the same but with its Indigo which will make it the first sedan to qualify as a small car.
This change will not only save the car around 30,000 RS but its also great for the drivers. Also, it will improve the fat-bottom looks of Indigo.
