Mahindra’s Lifestyle SUV, the Scorpio Getaway : Review
Mahindra & Mahindra, currently the leader in the utility vehicle segment with its Scorpio model, launched its global lifestyle SUV Scorpio Getaway in India. The Getaway is a new category creating offering from the Scorpio stable. The new lifestyle product is based on the Scorpio platform and sports a grand deck that can carry various equipment & gear according to your lifestyle.
The new Scorpio Getaway packs the DNA of the Scorpio into a lifestyle SUV. This vehicle complements the lifestyle of a growing breed of young adventurous Indians who work hard and play hard. They refuse to compromise luxury and style while requiring a vehicle that can take them and their gear around in comfort as per their lifestyle needs.The Getaway seems pretty much like the Pick-up released abroad last year.

The Scorpio Pik-Up is fitted with an alarm and immobiliser, and offers keyless entry. The Scorpio Getaway is available in 2WD and 4WD options and comes in 4 attractive colours. It pumps its power from its 2600cc common-rail diesel engine (CRDe). The Scorpio Getaway 2WD ‘Double Cab’ would be priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom Navi Mumbai).
Overall length of the vehicle is 5 098 mm, width 1 770 mm and height 1 860 mm, and offers a roomy interior. There are ample storage spaces, and standard features include power steering, air-conditioning, electric windows, CD-player and remote central locking. The instrument cluster has a contemporary look with all controls designed with ease of access and operation in mind.
TATA’s one lakh car coming June 2008 from Singur.
Ratan Tata today asserted the Rs one lakh car will be rolled out from the Singur facility, West Bengal as scheduled in June 2008. “We went to West Bengal when the whole country was at our disposal, but as a responsible corporate citizen, we wanted to boost the development of the region and West Bengal in particular,” Tata said “In addition to that Telcon, a Tata Motors subsidiary engaged in manufacturing and sale of construction equipment, and Tata Power are also looking at investments in the state.”
Tata also told that they have already placed orders for equipment for its Singur project and the company was working hard to meet the deadline.

Honda Cars to bring up 1.2 litre petrol : Planting their Second plant in India
Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. (HSCI), started work on their second plant in the Tapukara industrial area, some 120 km from its existing plant at Greater Noida. The new plant will come up on a 600-acre site and the initial phase will see an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore to churn out 60,000 cars annually. The plant will comprise, a press shop, a weld shop, die-casting shop, machine shop, paint shop and assembly operations. The Government of Rajasthan has also earmarked around 150 acres around the plant to house eight component suppliers of Honda.
Honda was also planning to use the panels made in this facility for other models produced at Greater Noida factory. Asked to define the small car that Honda was planning for India, Masahiro Takedagawa, president and chief executive officer of HSCI, said it would be a 1200 cc petrol or a 1500 cc diesel vehicle.
Tata Motors is already working on its Rs 1 lakh small car. Nissan Renault has also unveiling plans for a Rs 1.25-lakh car for the Indian roads.
